Michael Cirlos is a professional photographer and videographer in Downtown San Antonio specializing in content marketing, visual storytelling, and events. He is currently the content producer for Centro San Antonio and has been working professionally in Downtown San Antonio since 2012. Michael’s work has appeared in several news media organizations, and currently produces digital content for small and large-scale marketing campaigns for brands like Red Bull, Verizon Wireless, City of San Antonio, National Park Service, and others. Michael is a former Pecha Kucha San Antonio Speaker, and author at Trinity University Press. Michael enjoys craft beers and seeks to explore the world as much as possible.

BIOGRAPHY
Michael discovered photography in 2006 when he relocated to Hua Hin, Thailand from San Antonio to study International Relations at Webster University. After two years of studying in Southeast Asia, Michael received an academic scholarship to continue his education in The Netherlands where he practiced street photography. Michael graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 2010 and later founded Humans of San Antonio, a photojournalism project inspired by “Humans of New York” to promote the visual story of downtown San Antonio. This five year body of work became a book published by Trinity University Press in the summer of 2018.
In 2015, Michael studied under Rick Loomis at the Mountain Workshops, a pulitzer prize award winning photojournalist of the L.A Times. The Mountain Workshops is one of the best visual storytelling programs in the nation and has a reputation of pushing the creative limits of photographers and videographers.
Michael’s photography has appeared in TEDx San Antonio, Kens 5, San Antonio Express News, Univision 41, The Lake Front, Culture Co-Op of NBC Universal, Skyline Magazine, and has featured work with The Texas Observer. Michael is recipient of the Awesome SA Community Award, and has given photography talks at the Briscoe Western Art Museum, Our Lady of the Lake University, Pecha Kucha San Antonio, and UTSA. Michael also taught photography workshops at the Henry Ford Academy Alameda School of Art and Design and at Fox Tech High School in downtown San Antonio.
Michael’s latest photography exhibition titled, “Centuries of Immigration” is an interactive story collage that combines San Antonio history, poetry, and street stories from the Humans of San Antonio book.
